I closed my eyes and was transported back to a sunny kitchen, light streaming in through every louvre and smells wafting up to the ceiling. “A little bit of this and that”, some of the other mothers said, creating those amazing smells and flavours.

I opened my eyes and added a mix: 3 spices, and low and behold I had recreated flavours, tastes and promises of home in another land.

And so was born the Naija This n That mix, as a rub on meats and fish, with vegetable dishes, or roast potatoes. In other words, mama’s all-purpose seasoning
